Sunday, 17. January 2010 - European door, gate and drive manufacturers under one roof in Hagen, Germany

Hagen. In September 2009 the official formation meeting by German law of the European Door and Shutter Federation e.V. (E.D.S.F.) took place at the association WIB Wirtschaftsvereinigung Industrie- und Bau-Systeme e.V. in Hagen/ Germany. Representatives of European associations had met, in order to put the foundation-stone, so that in the future all activities of the E.D.S.F. can be steered permanently from Hagen.

In the past the secretariat changed every two years into another member country from where the E.D.S.F. was directed. The last registered office was in Italy, before that in France and Sweden. With the permanent transfer of the secretariat to the German domicile a loss of information should be prevented. Furthermore a basis for sustainable association work was created.

The E.D.S.F. exists since 1985 and unites European associations and manufacturers of doors, gates and drive systems under one roof. By the restructuring and restart of E.D.S.F. the principal purposes should get new drive.

As substantial goals were define

  • Exchange of experience and information.
  • Agency of the enterprise interests in technical standardization committees on European and international level (CEN, CENELEC, etc.)
  • Sustainability in energy saving by automatization and standardization of products
  • Increasing the awareness in the need of legal requirements and responsibilities for preventive maintenance works, carried out by professional service providers
  • Promotion of the free and fair competition under stabilization of the market monitoring face to face with non or less qualified products.

By the opening of the association, not only for door and gate manufacturers, but also for manufactures of drive motors and controls for roller shutters and sun protection as well as for manufacturers of automatic door systems, synergies can be created. For the E.D.S.F. it is substantial that the network of the association continues to grow and the European platform for topics such as standardization, technology and public relations could be strengthened.

The E.D.S.F. plans to accomplish a European expert conference on 29th of June 2010 in Stuttgart (Gerrmany) in the context with the General Assembly. In this event both, association and economic representatives can exchange their ideas.
